Towards a circular future in horticulture

Circular horticulture considers materials before, during and after cultivation. Substrate design can support that transition when performance remains central.

Look beyond a single crop cycle

Circular growing starts by considering where materials come from, how efficiently they perform and what can happen to them after use. These questions should be addressed early in product and growing-system design.

Performance remains essential

A more circular solution must still provide dependable physical properties for the crop. Water management, air space, structural stability and handling all influence whether a material can work reliably in professional production.

Build traceable routes after use

Reuse, separation and processing routes depend on the complete material combination and local infrastructure. Growers, substrate suppliers and processors should therefore validate the intended route together rather than relying on a general sustainability label.
